The Light of Christ Anglican Church began in 2004 under the leadership of the Anglican Coalition in Canada, (now called the Anglican Mission in Canada) meeting in homes for worship and fellowship with emphasis on orthodox biblical faith. In early 2006, our first Rector was called, The Rev. Kathy J. King. The church feels called to provide a strong, biblical witness of love and service to the city of Nanaimo. Visitors are warmly welcomed into a Spirit filled, family oriented community of worship and faith.
Kathy has been serving as Rector of The Light of Christ Anglican Church since 2006. Born and raised in Illinois, she became a believer in Jesus while attending college in Colorado. After working in 'Youth for Christ' following college, she felt a call to ordained ministry, receiving her MDiv from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry and a M.A. in counselling from Denver Seminary. Ordained in 1991, she has served three other churches before coming to the Light of Christ Anglican Church. In 2016, she completed her training in Spiritual Direction through SoulFormation and offers spiritual direction for those interested in deepening their relationship with Christ. Spiritual Direction Her greatest passions include teaching and seeing people's lives transformed through worship, prayer and service.
