 | Kathy King - Rector
Kathy has been serving as Rector of The Light of Christ Church since February of 2006. She was born and raised in Illinois and became a believer in Jesus while attending college in Colorado. After working in the 'Youth for Christ' organization for a short time following college, she felt a call to ordained ministry. She received a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Pennsylvania and and M.A. in counselling from Denver Seminary in Colorado. She was ordained to the priesthood in 1991 and has served three other churches before coming to the Light of Christ Church, including extensive experience in youth ministry. Her greatest passions include teaching and seeing people's lives transformed, worship, prayer and service. |
 | Youngmi Um - Nursery Worker
Youngmi is a native of Korea. After graduating from University in Korea, she worked with kindergarten children and institutionalized youth. She came to Canada in 2007 to study ESL and Early Childhood Education. She graduated with honors from Vancouver Island University in 2010 in Early childhood Education and Care. She holds a licence to practice with infant, toddler and special needs children. She also has a BA in English, is certified in First Aid, and trained in the Plan to Protect program. Since graduating, she has been involved in the Infant and Toddler program at Little Ferns Early Learning Centre. She is a delight to the children there and to the children at the Light of Christ Church. She enjoys singing songs with the children and bringing smiles to their faces. Youngmi believes every child has the right to get quality care from caregivers and parents. |
